For this month challenge, there will be no specific twist to be applied. We will give you a little break by introducing the "Anything Scrapping" theme. You may pick your own topic, your papers, your embellies etc

Jan/Feb: Fear and/or Life's Curve Ball Challenge

Hello peeps!!

SORRY we are a few days late to post our new challenge in 2011. Erk!

This new year has been hectic for most of us. We've all been swamped with back to school and family stuffs and some of us are going on a long holiday too. Nevertheless, we want to celebrate this new year by starting afresh and hosting our monthly challenge regularly. We hope that you would play along! :)))

For this month's challenge, we are going to dig into your dark secret(s). hehehe! Everyone has their own story; scary, funny, sad, sweet etc and this means letting it all OUT.

Our JANUARY/FEBRUARY challenge is called "FEAR/LIFE'S CURVE BALLS".

- You are to scrap a layout specifying what do you most fear in life or going through one of your toughest life's challenge (examples are loss of loved one, divorce, financial trouble etc).

- You are to also include a journaling stating how you face your fear or how you made through your life's troubles.

- To add some interest to this challenge, please include some stamping works (any stamp figure/form).

Jolene chose to scrap about her father and mentioned about how special he was to her family members. She put her journaling behind the photo which can be lifted with a tab.

Alin

Alin shared her phobic moment with a house lizard. Couldn't help to laugh off with the picture and that it goes so well with that "amusing" title!

Vivi

Vivi tells how blessed she was with her motherhood experience which she truly enjoys now and forever.

Janiah

Janiah created a different style of layout reflecting her endless fears in life with her artsy way.

Hiya scrappers!

Guess you all were eagerly waiting the reveal of the next challenge. An interesting one it is and it will surely get you cracking. But do not be deterred by it as it's actually an easy one to do!
So here it is!

* NOVEMBER LANDMARK/SCENERY CHALLENGE *

Create a scrapbook layout of a landmark or a scenery. See!! Simple, isn't it?
No person should be the subject of the photo (so if it's a picture with people in it, that's ok but not a person standing out as the focus)
Challenge Twist: You have to include journaling on this layout and the journaling is to be on a little accordion album as part of the layout element.

There you go! Hope that sounds comprehensible...hee!

Hi peeps!!
Yes it was a good 2 months hiatus for us as we at SIC experienced our fasting month followed by our Eid celebrations (Hari Raya Aidilfitri).

And here we are back in gear to host our next challenge. We have our new DTs to share with us in this month's challenge.

Here is the 3rd in our series of Sketchy challenges and this time the sketch is by SIC's RD Jazz.

There's no mandatory twist in this challenge but instead we are giving an optional twist. You can choose to:
A. just scrap away using our sketch based on any theme you wish but you are to include your journaling; OR
B. scrap a 'ME' layout and just list out 5 things about yourself

* Your full name, your country, email address;
* A link to your blog and/or online gallery;
*Previous/current Design Team;
*A short biography (100 words max), as well as describing your scrapbooking style, favourite products and techniques; and
* Submit to us 1 (one) of your favourite scrapbook layout of any theme and it can be of any size.

Other Requirements:-

* Be committed in helping make this blog a fun place during your 6 months in the team.
* Be sporting fun as the aim of this team is to help inspire and motivate other scrappers.

Janiah's Mini Tutorial - Altered Hair Clip Hanger

Woohoo!! Are you ready for some creative fun? We are so honoured to have a very talented scrapper who has inspired us with her girly layouts and creations which are always full of flowers, blings and various textures. A fan of Prima and Websters Pages, Janiah is sharing with us this month of May with a lovely Hair Clip Hanger and has prepared us a tutorial for this.

HAIR CLIP HANGER – By Janiah HJ

SUPPLIES LIST

· 1 pc chipboard (11.5 inches x 5 inches)

· 1pc Claudine hellmuth sticky-back canvas

· Acrylic paint (I used sky blue by Claudine hellmuth)

· 2 pcs eyelets

· 3 pcs ribbons, 113/4” inches length each (for the trims)

· 4 strips Velcro (optional)

· 2 1/2” scallop punch

· 2” scallop punch

· 4 pcs ribbons, 14 inches long (for the hair clips)

· Old Wire clothes hanger

· Cotton string

· Embellishments (Prima flowers, pearls and die cuts)

PART 1- MAKE THE BASE

1. Cut a piece of chipboard 11.5” x 5 Inches. Put aside.

2. Cut a piece of sticky-back canvas 11 ¾” x 5 ¼ “.

For the fray edges effect, cut a little bit and rip the rest when cutting to size.

Use a wet tissue to apply acrylic paint onto the sticky back canvas. This technique gives a subtle colour compared to using a paintbrush.

3. Glue the sticky-back canvas onto the chipboard. You now have a base.

4. Make 2 holes 3” from the edge of each side of the base. Insert eyelets onto each hole. Before you do this, please make sure that the wire hanger can go through the eyelet.

5. Decorate your base with stamps

6. Attach 4 strips of Velcro onto the base. This is optional- if you wish to be able to detach each hair clip ribbon.

PART 2- MAKE THE HAIR CLIP RIBBON

1. Cut 4pcs of chipboard measuring 1.5” x 1.5”.

2. Cut 4pcs 2-1/2” scallop circle

3. Cut 4pcs 2” scallop circle

4. Cut 4pcs ribbons, 14 inches long each

5. Glue in the following order (bottom first)

Velcro

Chipboard 1.5” x 1.5” square

2-1/2” scallop circle

Ribbon -14 inches long

2” scallop circle

Flower

PART 3- DECORATE THE WIRE HANGER

1. Cut and shape the wire hanger to fit through the holes on the base.

2. Wrap cotton string around the wire to give it a vintage look. Glue the end of the string to keep it in place. Note. Do not wrap the ends of the hanger that needs to fit through the eyelets.

Put the 3 parts together and embellish with flowers and crystals swirls. Enjoy!

And guess what - a Bonus! Janiah has so kindly prepared a RAK for her favourite altered hanger piece! I have a feeling it's gonna be filled with her favourite stash.

SIC's 2nd Anniversary with a Brand Challenge (and a lil Side Twist)

Hello All!! Hope you are all enjoying a good Sunday...

Guess what?!?! SIC has just turned 2 years old!

This SB challenge blogsite posted its first challenge in April 2008. We are grateful and honoured to have been able to feature a bunch of inspiring scrappers during these 2 years.

Now SIC has expanded its behind-the-curtain crew with the aim of making SIC and even more fun-filled scrapping site offering a variety of activities besides our monthly challenges. And what a great day to kick-start our first challenge. Let's scroll further and find out what this Brand Challenge is all about this April.

Your challenge is to pick your favourite cupcake topping Set (from the pic here) and then start to create a scrapbook layout which is to be made of SB products from the 3 brands that are in that set. These are to contain 100% of the products mentioned. You are NOT to use other brands in your layout.

Firstly, ScrapInspireCreate would like to say a very big THANK YOU to the Oct '09 - Mar '10 Creative Crew.

To Adeline, Timi, Irit and Alin - your contribution and inspirations shared in SIC have nevertheless proved to be an inspiration to many scrappers and paper crafters out there. SIC is deeply honoured to have you as part of our SIC family. Once again, thank you!!

April has arrived and once again we will be expecting new challenges every month. In order to bring more fun for you, SIC will not only be posting monthly challenges but also hope to share with you fun tutorials, Guest Designers to share and many more fun craft-filled activities.

With that, we have now got a Residence Crew who will be behind the works of SIC. The Residence Crew will also be sharing their works here at SIC. Please say 'Hi' to Alin, Vivi & Jazz.

Sharing the same hobby and love in not only scrapping but in many things as well :-)

Hello creative people!

Another new month is here. How was your February? Hoping you all had a wonderful time. Getting a little crafty nowadays? Or hoarding a new stash? Why don't you flaunt and show them off??? Because we are feeling melodious this month!

Our March challenge is the "Sing Me a Song Challenge".

To create a layout based on a song. You can use the title of the song or lines from a song as basis of your layout. Include something that has musical notes on it in your layout. it can be a paper, sticker, three-dimensional embellishment, etc

Adeline A Lim

I am Singaporean and a stay home mum to 2 beautiful ‘monsters’. I had resigned from my job when I was expecting baby number 2 so that I can be with my kids through their early growing years and I have not regretted my decision. Shortly after our second child was born in 2006, my husband was posted to work in Shanghai and we re-located with him.

I have always had a strong interest in scrapbooking but I started the hobby seriously when we moved to Shanghai. I needed something to keep myself occupied and distracted from the frustrations of adjusting to an entirely new culture. It has been very therapeutic for me and now I am happily scrappin’ whenever I have some free time from the kids. I usually scrap in the nights and despite the tiredness of chasing after 2 very active kids, I actually find much inspiration in these wee hours. I do not have a fixed style of scrappin’, but I like the distressed look a lot and tend to incorporate that into my layout. I have been scrapbooking for 1.5 years now but am still exploring and learning new techniques all the time!

We visit Singapore regularly where I get to restock on my supplies and now we are planning to re-locate back home for good as we hope to let the children pursue their primary education back home.

Alin Annuar

I am Alin Annuar, 32 yrs old local Bruneian. I’m happily married for 7 years now and we are blessed with two adorable boys, Afiq Bazli 4 years old and Sufi Zikri who is 2 years old.

My journey to scrapbooking began in Oct 2007, when I helped my sister to do a birthday present for her bestie, which was just a simple cut and paste. Shortly in Dec 2007, I joined the beginner class with one of my good friend-Vivs, who is now I can consider a superb, inspired and talented scrapper. Since then I'm still hooked to this wonderful hobby.

My scrapbooking style is basically clean and simple but would love to try other scrapbooking techniques. Occasionally, myself and a few good friends would set up a challenge or at sometimes we would go for a group-cropping. This is my first DT stint and I'm so happy, excited and nervous ofcourse. I hope I can inspire others too!

HI !! I am IRIT and I am from sunny ISRAEL.

I am very glad to be a part of this great blog DT and hope to do my best and make everyone at home proud of me as I am the only Israeli papercrafter who made into DT of any foreign blog so far.

In my " real life" I am a dentist and for last 3 years I do it as a part time job because I need some extra time to run my Israeli online scrap shop and I have a lot of fun doing something else after 25 years of teeth.

I am married for 27 years to retired high police officer and the full time family cook these days.

I am a mom to 4 grown ups : 2 sons and twin daughters and the empty nest is probably the main reason for my obsession for crafting - finally I have some time for myself

My oldest son is an army officer and recently married, a second one is " a world traveler" - for last 3 years after his army service he is out of Israel for at least 9 months a year. This year he lives in Spain and works there.

My twins live in USA for 2.5 years after their army service (we all do it here for 2 or 3 years) after they traveled all over the world ,but in 2 weeks they'll be home for college.

I need to say that I am totally addicted to crafting since I was a little girl.

For many years it was polymer clay and jewelry making, but after I've seen scrapbook LO for the first time in my life ( only 5 years ago during my visit to USA) I understood finally that I am in love with paper .

Today I mostly scrap and do altered art and less a cardmaker, but I love it all and hope to show you all my sides here.

And finally my other addiction is..... folk dancing!!

So if I am not in my crafting room- I am probably dancing.

I am Timi Mercado from the Philippines. I am a college teacher by profession, married to Danny for 14 years and a mom to Jigs and Dannah. I started scrapbooking in the year 2000 so that makes it nine years and still counting. I completed my first scrapbook in Feb 2000. It was not as good as my scrapbooks now, very crude shall I say but it paved the way to my journey to the world of scrapbooking! But it was only in 2003 that I discovered that there were materials really intended for this craft and only in 2006 that I began to make 12x12 LOs using all those acid-free stuff and the rest is shall I say history.

When I started scrapbooking, it was just a hobby. Now, it’s a passion and a way of life.There are many reasons why I love to CREATE: to preserve wonderful memories of myself and the persons important to me; my scrapbooks will be my legacy to the future generations of my family; it also sees me through during not so good times. Just seeing what I have accomplished in the past nine years is enough to take away the blues and all those stresses; and it is a way of expressing myself.

June Challenge ~ Parenthood

The months of May and June sees us celebrating Mothers Day and Fathers Day. So what better way than to combine both and celebrate both parents at SIC!

This month's challenge will be on "Celebrating Parenthood". Show us your scrapbook layouts or in fact any creation that celebrates parenthood. You could be featuring your mother, your father, yourself and your partner as parents, your friends as parents, etc. We would love to see your interpretation. As we celebrate parenthood, your creations would undoubtedly be extra special when some heartfelt journaling is included in it. So put in those journaling in your masterpieces. This is our little challenge twist ~ include some heartfelt journaling

Ok scrappers, ready for our challenges?

This will be another crew challenge by previous crew members, Zizi & Jasmin.

Zizi's challenge ~ Zizi is currently into the shabby chic look and you can often see her latest layouts featuring tearing and stitching. So Zizi's challenge is to simply create a scrapbook layout incorporating TEARING & STITCHING.

Jasmin's challenge ~ Create a scrapbook layout and include in your layout cupcakes paper cups. Go as far as your creativity allows you!

Do feel free to create any theme for these challenges.

Challenge rules?

1. Each scrapper is allowed to submit 1 submission for each challenge.

2. They are not allowed to submit more than 1 creation of one challenge.

3. Submissions must be specified which challenge they are being entered for.

4. Winners will still be voted by the Creative Crew but this time it will be 1 winner per challenge.

Firstly SIC would like to apologise for such a quiet gap. Lots of things have been happening in the household which required attention.

Hi. My name is Yatie Tajudin and I'm from Malaysia. I'm a mother to a 7 year old girl. I've been scrapping since July 2007 and LOVE every single thing about it. From the shopping, to the techniques, to the shopping, to the placement of elements... oh did I mention shopping? Don't we all love shopping?

I have to say that I don't really have a specific style but rather a mixture of everything, depending on my mood when I'm scrapping. I also love the altered arts and just love to try and experiment with different mediums on a project. But most of all what I love about scrapbooking is the friends that I've made all over the world. Friends who share the same passion as I do and understands the language.. :D!

I am so excited and honoured to be a part of the Scrap Inspire Create Design Team and am looking foward to be working on the layouts and projects every month."

"Hi I'm Eirnna. This is my first time becoming a Creative Crew (thanx to SIC). I was first introduced to Scrapbooking in 2006 but was not seriously into it until Sept 2008. The birth of my baby boy had inspired me to scrap as I wanna make every pictures and every moments remembered. Most of my creations circled around the people I love especially my dearest son n hubby. My style varied according to my mood and creativity. I got inspired from lots of people and also by beautiful things I see. One thing about scrapbooking that I like is; each LO will always be different from the others and it will always be a unique piece from the rest."

Hi everyone, my name is Janiah aka Janijap. I am a full-time working mother of one very handful 5 year old girl. I started scrapbooking almost 2 years ago and have been addicted to the hobby ever since. I'm a fast scrapper by necessity ie. there's only so many hours in the weekends and I tend to use the colour pink in all my LO's. Creative Crew Challenge #1 for February '09

For this month's challenge, SIC is introducing the Creative Crew Challenge where we have 2 creative crew members come up with their own challenges.

In February, we have Michelle and Adeline bring on their own challenges. They are guaranteed to be easy one to take on!

Here are the challenges:

Michelle's Challenge

An easy peasy one where you just need to produce a scrapbook layout or an altered project that has plenty of RIBBONS and BUTTONS.

Here's what Michelle did for her own challenge:

Adeline's Challenge

Another great one where you can play with Adeline's favourite colours ORANGE and BROWN. So again just submit to us a scrapbook layout or altered project with these colours as the main theme.

Ok for this challenge there'll be a few rules that will be applied so here they are:

1. Each scrapper is allowed to submit 1 submission for each challenge.

January Challenge Winners

Firstly, apologies for such a delay in posting the announcement of SIC's January 2009 winners. Lots of things has been happening around with the really heavy rain and high tide in Brunei that we had flash flood warnings and possibility of landslide occurrences that may disrupt electrical power and water supply.

Anyway, without further ado....let's proceed to announce the winners for January {Holiday} Challenge.

This has proven yet another tough one to vote. We received a lovely variety of scrapbook layouts and altered creations for this challenge. And if you have looked closely at the slide, you will notice the effort put into each and every creation submitted.

However a challenge must have a winner....well in this case, 2 winners!

Hiya scrappers! Are you ready for the next challenge?

When we scrapbook a layout, this is always square or rectangular in shape. So this month, we are challenging you to scrap an unconventional shape.

We wanna see circles, hearts, diamonds, ovals, even hexagons or pentagons!! You name a shape and create a layout with it!

One thing to keep in mind - NO SQUARES ALLOWED!

(* rectangles are accepted)

Your layout is of any theme and of course you can send in as many submissions as you want! The whole idea is to inspire and be inspired!

This challenge will be slightly different from our previous challenges.

At the end of the challenge, each Creative Crew membe

SIC is proud to present our October's Guest Designer who is yet another inspirational scrapper and hails from the Philippines.

We are so excited to have Issa Virtucio-Lucido with us this month!

Hi everyone! I am Issa Virtucio-Lucido from Laguna, Philippines. I have been into this wonderful hobby of scrapbooking since my eldest son Luigi was born in 1993. I thought this was just merely decorating pictures and pages, I didn't know that this was called scrapbooking until 2003. When I met a very dear friend Timi, she opened my eyes to the real world of scrapbooking. And now, after 5 years I'm a Certified LB Scrapaholic member (our little group of Mommies in our town) and an addict scrapbooker!

I have two sons Luigi, turning 15 this month and my youngest Lorenzo, 4 1/2 years old... they are my source of inspiration and reasons to keep on scrapping! I love creating circle shapes on my layouts and I love chipboards, paints, metals, buttons, ribbons and boy themed embellishments. I haven't really tried my hands on girly things but I love to learn and explore the pink side of life.

OK scrappers!! Ready for our next challenge?

But firstly,

to all our Muslim scrappers!

As a follow-up to our previous embellies challenge, this month we have another easy challenge for you all! We bet you have plenty of chipboard in many shapes and sizes!! And who doesn't love some flourishings on your scrapbook layout?!

Well...that's what our next challenge is all about! Come and show us your best creations featuring these two popular items - CHIPBOARDS and FLOURISHES!

Our Guest Designer, Issa, produced this serene layout and notice the techniques she has used in the close-ups.

For me, chipboards and flourishes is a very nice combination in a page. Here's my take to this month's challenge... Chipboard and Flourishes! I used here Buzz and Bloom flourishes chipboard, I painted it with gold acrylic paint and topped it with crackle paint. Then I used Prima flowers, embellished them with a little glittered glue and gold brads to add a little spark.

"Hello everyone! My name is Nora Latip although most people who know me online will refer to me as Poinz (it's a nickname created by friends way back in high school). I discovered scrapbooking in early 2006 but did not seriously start until early 2007.

I've always been into art and crafts and with this hobby, nothing can be better! Gorgeous papers and embellishments all around, everyone has something to play with to create something totally unique! That's the best part about scrapbooking, it's essentially YOU.
I'd say I usually have a 'minimalist' approach but usually it all depends on the photo I'm dealing with. This is my first time chosen as part of a designer team and I'm chuffed about that! Hope you'll join in the fun during our stay here at SIC!"

Ola scrappers! I am Zizi aka Renoa and I am so thrilled to be here to share my passion for this wonderful hobby with everyone else. I just started scrapping since last April this year. My biggest support is my Huny Boo because he was the one who convinced me that scrapbooking is better than hunting clothes!lol! Anything art or hand-made has always fascinated me. Scrapbooking has now become my creative outlet, my escape and am enjoying every bit and making great talented friends along the way. Plus, I get to document every precious moment with some gorgeous supplies on earth! I love to experiment with products and techniques. I am a paper hoarder and obviously I love to put layers of pattern papers and chipboards onto my layouts to add dimension. Mind you I am very slow scrapper and I tend to take days to complete a project but I am trying my best to finish one for every work I am assigned to so no worries!;) My style varies but I seem to enjoy doing shabby chic look lately. I am truly excited to be given this opportunity as this is my first ever DT stint! As I learn along the way, I hope to inspire others and be inspired by you. Firstly, apologies for such a late posting. Was not able to access my laptop till this evening.

Ok...without much further ado let us welcome SIC's September Guest Designer, Nathalie "Cabbie" Jane Lopez from the Philippines!!

I am Cabbie Lopez, mother of 4 boys ages 10, 6,5,4 and currently a stay at home mom. I started scrapbooking during the year 2006 and have been hooked ever since to this wonderful craft. Scrapbooking serves as an outlet for my creativity aside from reading books. I also love to alter stuffs and love the shabby chic look of anything. At present, I am a design team member of 2 scrapbooking sites ( an online store here in the Philippines and an altered challenge blog at ArtzdeScrap). i have also been honored to be named the first ScrappinMoms idol last year. I believe that scrapbooking is not just scrapping per se, it is gaining friendship from different parts of the world and of course preservation of memories using your creativity, passion and artistry.
